OLD BUSINESS
1. The fence project. If we replace the entire fence, to include the short orange fence on both sides, we will need about 400’ of fencing. Mike Burns priced out both 3’ and 4’ fencing. Believe it, or not, the 3’ fencing is more expensive than the 4’, because the 3’ fencing has to be specially ordered. The total cost for the 4’ fencing is $1,463.64, which includes all the parts, top rails, posts, etc. The club does the labor. Club members believe we have the expertise to replace the fence ourselves.
A discussion was held if we needed to replace the orange fence, or just repair it. If we do not replace it we will reduce the amount of fencing by about 140’ with a concomitant decrease in price to about $1,000.00.
Tom Amber will get with a fencing company and get two bids for them to do all the labor and supply the materials and report back to the club at the November meeting. We will then compare their price with the price of doing it ourselves and make a decision.
2. Tom Amber did remove two of the old, dilapidated wooden spools. A third one he deemed to be useable and left it at the field.
3. Cross Country/Fun Fly. After a discussion, we decided to have a fun fly on December 6th and possible incorporate a cross
country flight within it. Terry “Nubs” Mitchell is in charge and will get out flyers to advertise the event.
4. The Christmas Party is all set for Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Tom Amber will have the menu of food choices at the November so we can make our choices.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Richard Swech and Robert Reynolds joined the club
2. During the November meeting we will need nominations for Vice-President, Secretary and Web Manager. Please come prepared to nominate and/or accept the nomination. Each position is for two years. The Vice-President will serve for one year and then become the president the following year.
3. Kay Cargen has lung cancer and she underwent a successful operation to remove a lobe. She is now at home. Frank Ross will send her a get well card on behalf of the club.
4. In accordance with the by-laws, the November meeting (and subsequent winter meetings) will begin at 10:00 a.m.
5. Mike Burns was contacted by a gentleman who donated a lot of parts, and such, to the club. It was free for the taking. If there remains any other pieces and parts, feel free to take what you need.
6. We auctioned off the two airplane kits. Richard Szakonyi was awarded the Curtiss P-6E Hawk for $15.00 and Bob Cleveland gets to attempt to build the Curtiss Robin for $20.00.
7. Thanks to Mike Burns for mowing the grass. However, the left front tire tread separated and needs to be replaced. The right front tire isn’t in great shape, either. We need to reimburse Howard for the cost of two tires.
